As Teachers, we 100 percent deserve our Teacher summer. We have more than earned it. Especially after more than a year of pandemic teaching. It is when we rest, regroup and re-energize. Here are 3 Easy Things to do today that STILL meet the Teacher Summer criteria, but set you up for success when you HAVE to begin thinking about Back to School.
So, what is Teacher Summer? Teacher summer to me is doing things that I normally do not have time to do that are either
- Easy
- Relaxing
- Inspiring
After a few days of Teacher Summer I always tell my husband, “I feel like a normal human again!!”
But, It is after I begin feeling like a human though that I begin thinking about what I can do to make next school year better?
I know, “Why can’t I just enjoy myself and savor the moment?”
So I have come up with 3 Easy Things to do today that STILL meet the Teacher Summer criteria, but set you up for success when you HAVE to begin thinking about Back to School.
- Sign up for a Teacher organized Virtual Conference. What I love about these is:
- They are organized by teachers just like you. I do not know about you but I always gain more from my peers than anyone else because they understand exactly what I am going through because they are going through it also.
- They are virtual, which means I can watch them at my own time. So I can take my kids to the pool and during some down time catch a few presentations that interest me. They are also usually not that long. These just work better for my summer/ pre-back to school schedule.
- They are usually more cost effective than big conferences and I love that I am supporting one of my fellow teachers.
If you are a Secondary Math teacher looking for a conference to attend, I am organizing the Grow your Impact in Secondary Math Conference.
This conference is 100% about helping you fill gaps and grow students this coming year.

2) Read/ Listen to a recommended book for your content. This is great because:
- You can do this anywhere. Especially if you listen to it, which is my personal favorite.
- It really generates new ideas.
- You can also join a virtual Teacher Book Club and participate in discussions. These book clubs are usually very laid back so they meet the Teacher Summer criteria.
You can join the Secondary Math Book Club here. This summer we are reading and discussing “Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics K-12”.
3) Take advantage of all of the July Sales for Teachers
- Do you have a couple of units that you know you will need to revamp next year? Or are you teaching a new grade level? You can stock up on resources this summer at a discounted price and be ready for the upcoming school year.
I am participating in the Sun, Sand and Savings Summer the entire month of July. Not only are products on sale but they also have a weekly giveaway!
- Here is another resource with a list of all kind of teacher discounts: Teacher Discounts Guide: The Ultimate List of Stores
My favorite of the 3 are the Teacher Organized Virtual Conferences. I know you will love the Grow your Impact in Secondary Math Conference. Sign up Today!
Continue to enjoy your Teacher Summer, you DESERVE it!! I hope it is easy, relaxing and inspiring.
